Their names are Sara and Paolo (and their cat Sakè). They’re fellow Italians and, after 3 years, 3 continents, and 37 countries, they’ve finally made it to Japan!
The starting point? Saluzzo (Cuneo Province) near the very Italian city of Turin.
The vehicle? A camper van.
Sara and Paolo left home and jobs behind to follow their dream, reinventing themselves.

Sara and Paolo (a.k.a. Vandipety) are documenting their entire journey through YouTube, Instagram, and Patreon.
Their way of telling Japan is intense, raw, moving, emotional, and poetic all at once. They speak from the heart. The words they choose, the glimpses they share, strike a chord with anyone who loves the Land of the Rising Sun in its purest essence.
They love to stop and chat with everyone: locals, foreigners, or fellow Italians. And this is a wonderful added value: humanity.

Right now, Sara and Paolo are sharing their travels through the districts of Kyushu and Shikoku. They’re slowly making their way up the archipelago, showing us landscapes and places that are hardly reachable without your own four wheels.
They are our eyes on places that many of us might never get the chance to see, going beyond tourist paths and polished routes.
They’re transparent about challenges and costs.
All their expenses are constantly updated and can be viewed on this page (€) in case any of us feels inspired to follow in their footsteps!
What else is there to say, if not “go follow them”?

DISCLAIMER. This short article is a spontaneous initiative. I haven’t contacted, nor have I been contacted by, this wonderful couple to talk about their adventure. But I truly believe they deserve far more visibility than they currently have—both for the gentle, respectful way they tell Japan’s story, and for the immense courage it took to leave everything behind and just go. To them (and little Sakè), I wish all the best. 💛
